Beautiful Utilitarianism @ Stella McCartney Resort SS17

November 10th 2016.

Stella McCartney previews her debut menswear and pre-spring 2017 womenswear collections just across the street from Abbey Road studios where her father and the rest of The Beatles recorded the album of the same name in 1969.

As soon as I saw the first released photos of McCartney's collection I was taken aback.

The collection encapsulates everything that I am loving in terms of fashion design trends, fabric cuts, garment shapes, fabrics and colour palettes at the moment. Channelling utilitarianism through the tailored-looking boxy jackets and shirts with exposed stitching and stiff shoulders, McCartney cleverly contrasts this with dresses and shirts of hound and landscape printed silky fabrics, pleats, neutral knits and lace.

A beautiful collection and possibly one of my favourite of Stella's to date.

Here's a round-up of some of my favourite pieces...

cuffed denim with this interesting ruched waist and sleeves

sport socks, polka dots and hounds print

long john, mick jagger vibes

exposed stitching

ruched and frilled denim

80s vibes with puffy sleeves

ultimate oversized

a pleated landscape

contrast lace

feminine silhouettes

neutrals

tailored and boxy

kenzo vibes with zebra print

oversized trousers (i wanna call these 'banana splits')

more pleats please

full length lace

knits

Happy Birthday Miss Chung!

Hello all! A very happy Saturday to you...

and a Happy Birthday to style icon, Miss Alexa Chung, who turns 33 today!

To celebrate the wonderment that is her personal style and the influence it has had on the fashion world, I've compiled some of my favourite looks of hers from over the years to share as inspiration with all of you.

We can all take a leaf out of Alexa's book when it comes to dressing kooky but chic with an undeniable air of British coolness.

So what is Chung's style?

In summary...

She can wear a pair of classic blue jeans and a t-shirt like no other.
Rise that hem to just above the ankle and flash a pointed toe boots or a pair of black loafers.

Clashing prints donned alongside a bright red lip and a plaited updo.

Spotted shirts.

The Chung tea dress, ideally paired with a mini Mulberry handbag.

Bare legs and ankle boots, teamed with a band t-shirt and A-line skirt.

Classic round ray-bans worn even in the colder months.
Boxy jackets and classic denim.
