Jaden Smith for NYLON- August 2016

Jaden Smith, the young forward-thinking son of actor Will Smith turns 18 this week.

This week also sees him making history as Nylon magazine's first solo male cover star and he's taking the opportunity to model a range of gender non-conforming fashions, including his favourite skirt within the editorial inside. The shoot is beautifully shot by photographer Jesse John Jenkins.

Jaden Smith has become recognised in recognised in recent years by the fashion world, for embracing a fashion sense that doesn't recognise gender. Through this, the young man is unintentionally trailblazing a path for other androgynous fashionistas and influencers to follow.

"He represents a generation that has assimilated the codes of the freedom, one that is free of manifestos and questions about gender"

- Nicolas Ghesquiere; Louis Vuitton Creative Director

I admire Jaden greatly for his courage and devil-may-care attitude to fashion and style. It is said that fashion is something that really shouldn't be taken too seriously yet the fact that this 18 year-old is influencing future generation's abilities to express themselves freely is awesome. Keep it up Jaden (I personally can't wait to see what he does next).

"It was lit"
