On The Charm Offensive: Fashion's Obsession with Embroidery and Beading

Hello all and a very happy Wednesday to you all! Today I thought I'd try out a different type of blog post as I am gradually attempting to bring you guys more content this month!

AW16 has seen some incredible beading and exquisitely embroidered clothing and accessories gradually drift their way down from the catwalks to the high street, and I don't know about you,
but I have been obsessed!

Embroidered bomber jackets, shirts and jeans have been major players this season.
(I may have purchased the most beautiful tiger embroidered jacket from Bershka earlier this month cough cough #treatyourself)

Here's some inspiration for you guys, straight from the top designers, such as Dior
(omg still dribbling over ss17) and Alexander McQueen.

I feel like this trend is one that is so open to interpretation, which is great. I'm almost tempted to don myself a new leather or denim jacket and cover it in charity shop/ vintage brooches to channel the glitz and glam of the runway but also keep my style really individual.

Do you guys like this trend? If so, how are you interpreting it?

Fashion!: Style Tips from Bowie

Hello all and a very happy Monday to you!

David Bowie will always hold a special place in my heart and I'm sure the heart of many others.

His music, his eccentricity and his fashion sense were and always will be iconic and make me pretty damn proud to be from the same little island as him
(Ziggy is from out of space though ofc).

Now, we have much to learn from Bowie in many ways, but hey, let's start with style...

if you're going to wear a hat, make it wide-brimmed,
like this fedora and wear it on a tilt to command your authority.

a white t-shirt is effortless cool. Make it your own.
Roll up the sleeves, tuck it in, rip it.

stripes and sharp-angled patterns make suits,
trousers and tops look out of this world.

trousers best be high-waisted, flared and block colour.
Make 'em silky if you can.

patent boots with huge heels.
To me, red PVC is Bowie.

Bowie, we love you man.

Style Inspo: Adrienne La Russa in 'Pyschout For Murder' (1969)

Hello loves! Today I'd like to share with you a massive source of style inspiration of mine. Now, I have always been a massive fan of late 60's/70's style since I can remember, but with the recent 70's revival seen on the catwalks and in the high street, I've never been more obsessed.

60's Italian film has often been regarded as a massive source of fashion inspiration, and recently, when I came across the 1969 film 'Pyschout For Murder', I could see why.

The film follows the character Licia, played by the beautiful Adrienne La Russa, who is the daughter of a wealthy Italian industrialist who institutionalises her after being caught hanging around a brothel with her blackmailing boyfriend. Licia doesn't take well to being a pawn in her family's PR manuevering or her boyfriend's greed and takes her revenge in the manipulation and murder of everyone around her (morbid i know, but completely badass!)

All this is done in a perfectly executed wardrobe of late 60's glossiness, with mini-skirts, tight-ribbed sweaters, tinted glasses with a touch of pyschadelic, Pucci-esque prints alongside nods to the forthcoming muted tones of the 70's.

What's not to love about a well-dressed badass with eyelashes to die for!

Here's some inspiration for you from the film, isn't La Russa a beauty!...
